Semra Çomu Yapıcı is awarded a YÖK project: Digital twins w/machine learning to prevent construction accidents
Semra Çomu Yapıcı is awarded a research project funded by YÖK: A Digital Twin Approach Assisted by Machine Learning for Preventing Construction Accidents Detectable by Physiological Findings
We are pleased to announce a ground-breaking project aimed at transforming workplace safety in the construction industry. Despite existing safety measures, construction remains one of the most dangerous industries. This project takes a proactive approach to accident prevention by leveraging Digital Twin technology, real-time monitoring, and machine learning. Assoc. Prof. Çomu and her research team have successfully tested systems for collecting physiological and location data from workers using smart wristbands and indoor positioning devices. By early 2025, they plan to expand data collection to include workers on active sites, allowing for accurate accident risk prediction and early intervention. This innovative system will allow stakeholders to prevent accidents before they happen, representing a significant advancement in construction safety. Stay tuned for updates!
