Prof. Cem Avcı was part of the training team who undertook 4 day training session conducted for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in October 30th -November 2nd 2019. The training was aimed at improving the understanding and managing social risk in Projects and acquiring knowledge and developing practical skills in the implementation of EBRD Requirements. The attendees included Public and Private Sector Employees, Social Impact Experts, Health & Safety Experts, Environmental Management Experts, Investment Advisors.
D-Coded BAP project “Analysis of Physiological Risk Factors for Occupational Accidents in Construction Industry” was recently awarded to Dr. Semra Çomu Yapıcı. The first stage of data collection was completed by the Ph.D. candidate, Gökhan Kazar.
A new TÜBİTAK 1001 project with the collaboration of Özyeğin University, Boğaziçi University and Sabancı University was accepted. An automated system enabling additive manufacturing of fiber cement-based composites will be developed in the scope of the project. Results and dissemination of the work will significantly contribute to the state-of-art and be one of the pioneering studies leading the technological advancement of additive manufacturing in construction.
International Conference on “Cement – Based Materials Tailored for a Sustainable Future” will take place in Boğaziçi University with the participation of world – renowned scholars and experts. The conference aims to gather researchers and industrial experts from around the world who specialize on cement-based materials to share and spread knowledge in an effort to increase awareness on the importance of the sustainable cementitious systems.
Dr. Serdar Selamet, is awarded a grant for his project entitled " Experimental Investigation of the Fire Performance of Parallel Strand Steel Cables " (218M550) by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) within the scope of 1002: Short-term R&D Funding Program.
Dr. Constantine Memos, Professor Emeritus of Maritime Hydraulics and Port Engineering with the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece and also the Immediate Past Director of ASCE Region 10 visited ASCE Turkey Group at Boğaziçi University on September 26, 2019. The event was organized by Dr. Zeynep Yıldırım in collaboration with ASCE Turkey Group Officers.
The 8th National Conference on Geosynthetics was held on 16-17 May 2019 at the Bogazici University in Istanbul. The conference was organized by the Turkish Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society in partnership with the Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.
