Nilüfer Özyurt Zihnioğlu leading new BAP D Coded Project: Seawater mixed concrete w/microstructure for structural use

Nilüfer Özyurt Zihnioğlu was granted a new BAP D Coded Project. The project will be completed in 2 years. The Project will carried out in the scope of the PhD research of Olcay Gürabi Aydoğan. The overall objective of the study is to tailor cement-based materials to decrease/eliminate the deleterious effects of chlorides on steel reinforcement used for reinforced concrete.

Beliz Özorhon of CE among the World's Top 2% Scientists

Stanford University has recently published an update of the list of the most influential scientists in the world. The study released a database of top 2% scientists in the world in 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields based on two categories: “career-long impact” and “annual impact”. The rankings are made based on several criteria such as the number of publications, number of citations, and h-index of the researchers.

As the local organizing committee of CBMT2020 we have been closely following the pandemi updates throughout the world. Ilgın Gökaşar leads a project for the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MoTI)

 Ilgın Gökaşar leads the project titled “Driving Architecture for Autonomous Vehicles and Determination of Connected Vehicle Traffic Test Scenarios” for the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MoTI)

Throughout the project, research, development, simulation, and test studies will be conducted to support the smooth operation of connected and autonomous vehicles, which will serve as environmentally friendly, sustainable, safe, secure, and comfortable modes of transportation. The following are the project's primary goals.

 

Ilgın Gökaşar's research project submitted within the scope of EN-UAC-2022 Call, was evaluated as successful

Ilgın Gökaşar´s project proposal titled "Transforming streets into accessible urban oases through consensus building with digital and analogue tools", which she submitted within the scope of EN-UAC-2022 Call, was found successful after the evaluations. The expected start of the project is March 2023 depending on the contracting procedure.

Nilüfer Özyurt Zihnioğlu leading new BAP D coded project on: Using macro polypropylene fibers for concrete pavements

Nilüfer Özyurt Zihnioğlu was granted a new BAP D Coded Project. The project will be completed in 1 year. Research assistant Onur Öztürk will be carrying out the experimental work. Within the scope of the study, it is aimed to increase concrete pavement performance by using fibers. First, concrete mixing protocol will be modified to increase the performance obtained from fibers. Then, experimental and numerical studies will be conducted to examine the effects of fibers on the joint performance of concrete pavements.
 

Cem Avcı joins the team of experts in the Greenhouse Gas Abatement Commission for the First Turkish Climate Council

Turkey ratified the Paris Agreement in 2021 and set a 2053 Net Zero Emission and Green Development target. The First Climate Council meeting took place between 21-25 February 2022 with seven separate commissions to establish short, medium, and long-term strategies, actions, policies, and legislation.

Serdar Selamet serves in national committee on forest fires

Tübitak has formed a committee on forest fires with 20 leading experts on fire engineering from various universities in Turkey. The committee will involve in projects such as structural fire engineering, fire detection and follow-up, fire intervention and post-fire forest rehabilitation. Doç. Dr. Serdar Selamet will work on egress scenarios and post-fire structural damage in urban habibat.
